History

In 2001, seeing the continued expansion of North Raleigh, Bay Leaf Baptist Church of Raleigh, North Carolina purchased nineteen acres in the Wakefield area for a satellite campus. On May 6, 2001, our church began meeting at Wakefield High School as Bay Leaf Baptist Church - North Campus. In 2003, we relocated to an office park on Capcom Drive, located behind Wake Forest Eye Care. This location provided us with a rented facility that could be used seven days a week. Our church continued to grow over the next several years as plans were made to construct a building that would serve as a permanent location. By 2005, we adopted the name "Wakefield Baptist Church" in order to identify with the community more readily. In December 2007, our church reentered the Wakefield community and held its first service in the new building on January 6, 2008.

Currently, we are still supported by Bay Leaf Baptist Church financially. Our partnership with Bay Leaf also allows us to leverage the wisdom and resources of a larger and older church.

The staff and members of Wakefield Baptist Church continue to support the original vision of our church as established by Bay Leaf. We truly desire to reach our entire community with the powerful Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our prayer is that the Lord would continue to bless our church as it ministers throughout Wakefield and to the ends of the earth.
